We Never Thought Buying was an Option…then We Discovered ALTA Lofts.

Brian's New ALTA Loft

Brian, one of the newest residents at ALTA Lofts, loves his new loft - particularly because he never thought that owning in Los Angeles would be a reality. “One day we were just looking, browsing really, downtown when we ran into a Realtor who told us about this great, affordable new loft community east of downtown L.A. My husband, Michael, and I were skeptical and almost didn’t go to view the models. We didn’t believe there was a new loft community where lofts were priced in the $200,000-$300,000s. We’re glad we did, because we love ALTA Lofts and now we live here.”

ALTA Lofts offers FHA financing so buyers can put down as little as 3.5%. “We would have never been able to buy without FHA. Now, we own a new home and we never thought it was possible at this time.”

Brian and Michael's Loft

Most people don’t realize how stylish and cool the lofts really are. ATLA tends to get the WOW factor from people when they walk in. Brian was no different. “I knew I would love ALTA Lofts as soon as I saw a Keith Haring painting hanging in the social room.” – Brian. “When we started looking at all of the different loft layouts, we first fell in love with the penthouses. Then, we looked at a two-level with outdoor space on the first floor and we knew it was the perfect space that we wanted.”

An Outside View of Brian and Michael's Loft

“I cannot believe how much space we got for the price! For years, we shopped around in Venice and in West Hollywood, but it’s a joke how small and overpriced the lofts are in those areas. Honestly, I don’t understand why people aren’t crashing down the doors to buy at ALTA Lofts. What you get for the money is just incredible” – Brian. “We love our loft. It’s the perfect space for us.”

The 2nd Story

Brian also loves the area. “It feels like New York without the weather! It’s got that cool industrial vibe. We even take the Metro Gold Line. It’s just a two minute walk from us. It’s great. In just a few minutes we are downtown and we don’t have to drive or park.”

Welcome Brian and Michael

Welcome Brian and Michael. We are glad that you love your new loft.

Decorating Tips for Loft Lovers on a Budget

January 21st, 2011 admin No comments

Everyone knows it’s cool to live in a loft. That’s why lofts are becoming more and more popular – especially with young, creative professionals. This is probably due to the hip-sophisticated image that loft living conjures: urban setting, open spaces, huge windows, visible air ducts, original columns and high ceilings. ALTA Lofts offers all of that and more, and is quickly becoming the popular place for young professionals.

Making creative spaces

Using art and bookshelves as dividers

Creating work spaces

Determine the Function of the Space

What will you do with all of the space? Don’t panic. Take a deep breath and walk around your space and decide the best areas for working, relaxing and entertaining. Once the natural flow of the space has been determined, then you can start to divide the space into rooms, if you choose.

Divide and Define Your Own Walls

Separate spaces inexpensively with bookshelves, artwork, tapestries and other dividers.

Look for Furniture that Leads a Double Life

Save money by having furniture serve a dual purpose. For example, create couches from twin mattresses - they can double for seating and sleeping for guests. A couple of twin beds and throw pillows are a lot less expensive than a designer couch.

Create Storage in Hidden Places

Organization is key to loft living. Look for furniture with storage; like beds with built-in drawers or ottomans that have storage. Use a book case as a headboard. Look for an old steamer trunk to double as a coffee table as well as for storage space.

Dig Deep for Deals

You don’t have to go too far to find great bargains in Los Angeles. The famed St. Vincent De Paul is right around the corner and L.A. is packed with hotel liquidations and swanky estate and garage sales. Affordable furniture is out there - you’re just going to have to dig a little deeper for it.

Another Cool Eastside Gem: The Echo Park Craft Fair

Echo Park Craft Fair

ALTA Lofts loves its neighbors! That’s because the Eastside (hipside) is home to some of the edgiest, freshest design shops in Los Angeles. What’s even better is that twice a year, a slew of them gather for an alternative craft fair that showcases the work of nearly two dozen local artists and designers.

This year, the fair takes place at 1719 Sargent Pl., at Academy Rd., Echo Park this Saturday, December 4th.

Skip the mall and support local talent by shopping as locally and as cooly as you can by choosing from hand-mixed, organic beauty products, unique belts, jewelry handbags and more at the Echo Park Craft Fair.

Here are the designers:

Annie Costello Brown, Apu, Beatrice Valenzuela, Clare Vivier, Granola Project, Hadley Holiday, Jessica Conder, Kathleen Wittaker, Kathryn Bentley, Dream Collective, Kelly Breslm, Kristen Levy. Mari Eastman, Miele Adler, Nanette Sullano, Nikki Lewis, Olivia Johnson, Pietsie Campbell, Ramsey Conder, Rebekah Miles, Samantha Grisdale, Smoke and Mirrors, Timothy Rinsmuth

Looking for something a little different this Holiday Season? Well. All you have to do is look down the street from ALTA Lofts to find a vintage shop that has become more of a couture shop: Shareen Vintage in Lincoln Heights is a favorite of celeb stylists and A-listers looking to add a little vintage to their collections and even the red carpet. And, it’s walking distance from ALTA Lofts! We know how great our neighborhood is and we thought we would share one of its best known secrets with you.

Shareen Vintage

Because of its popularity, the cost of vintage apparel had risen to the point where it was beyond the means of many. But, our neighbor, Shareen Vintage, has made cool vintage apparel was affordable. There are racks and racks of vintage clothing from 20’s to the 90’s at affordable pricing! Most items are under $100.

Owner, Shareen Mitchell personally finds all of her pieces and brings them back to live by cleaning, steaming and mending them so they can find a new owner with the right sense of style perfect for a fashion reincarnation. Mitchell, a stylist and star of her own upcoming reality show on the Planet Green Network knows how to pick out great pieces for any vintage style shopaholic. She has created a secret society of followers that swear by her sense of style and ability to pick out the best of the vintage.

There is a “no-boys-allowed” motto at this secret warehouse. Women get to play dress up without the confines of a dressing room and it makes a great stop for any girly day planned. This Lincoln Heights’ treasure is unlike any other store in Los Angeles. We like to think ALTA Lofts is unlike any other loft community in L.A.: Hidden, classic, affordable, hip and waiting to be discovered!

ALTA Lofts kicks off its Holiday Food Drive for the LA Food Bank November 13th from Noon to 2 PM.

October 27th, 2010 admin No comments

The Holiday Season is upon us; time to celebrate, share meals with friends and family and exchange gifts with loved ones. For most of us, this is the best time of the year. But for others, it’s the most difficult. It’s no secret that times are tough. There are a growing number of people in Los Angeles that do not only go with less – but have to go without.

This year, in an effort to give back to the community, ALTA Lofts is hosting a food drive for the LA Food Bank to help provide for the hungry in Los Angeles. The LA Food Bank is dedicated to spreading the message about hunger in our city and the dire need that exists to feed our local families, not only this holiday season but all year long.

A stalled economy means more families are in need of food assistance as donations are down and individuals have to tighten belts. Food drives for the LA Food Bank raise awareness of hunger in the community, collect food for people in need and play an essential role in the fight against hunger in Los Angeles. It’s not just about the homeless anymore.

The ALTA Lofts Food Drive will begin on November 13th with a special event from Noon to 2 PM. To get things started, ALTA Lofts will be hosting an event with the DOSA truck where the first fifty people to donate food will receive a ticket to eat at the DOSA Truck: Each of the first 50 guests will receive a Dosa (Indian-style burrito) and their choice of a samosa, masala fries or Dosa’s homemade ginger limeade.

Los Angeles Regional Foodbank accepts dry, shelf-stable, refrigerated and frozen food items; food service items; and personal care and cleaning products. The Food Drive will last through December 4th – when we will have an ending ceremony at ALTALofts to celebrate the season of giving. If you miss the opening event – you can donate between Noon and 5PM Daily at ATLA Lofts located at 200 N. San Fernando Road.
